Election podiums in universities were hot / All parties and political activists can use the capacity of universities / Conversation with Mahmoudreza Aghamiri – rahnam

rahnam News Agency University DepartmentZainab Omid: The political environment of universities is one of the areas that is being considered on the eve of the Islamic Council elections. University and student groups are one of the most important players in the elections and can be decisive for the media environment of the country, and the more importance and coefficient is given to these student activities, the more we will see election activities in the text of the university and naturally These activities will spread in the context of society.

Of course, in the atmosphere of elections, expectations from universities increase, but these expectations should be reasonable and expected from universities within the framework. Expecting to support a specific person or political current or not supporting a specific political group will cause problems for the university, so political actions should be organized within the legal, justified and rule frameworks that exist for electoral activities in universities, so that the environment of universities, students And student collections will not suffer. Also, a reasonable, regular and focused look at the macro-election goals; It included participation, maintaining the safety and health of the elections for the students, and electoral preferences should not be imposed on the university so that the university does not deviate from its original path.

For this reason, to investigate more aspects of the electoral activities of the universities Seyyed Mahmoudreza Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University, we went. You can read the text of this conversation below:

Shahid Beheshti University, Islamic Council of Iran, Elections in the Islamic Republic of Iran,

* The right notification prevents the enemy from blacking out

rahnam: In the short distance left until the elections, how election-like has the atmosphere of the universities become? Especially in Shahid Beheshti University, how much of this electoral movement is seen?

Agha Miri: Usually, this movement occurs in the last week leading to the elections because the competitors will face each other. It is absolutely true that the space is not yet an emotional space before the candidates’ campaigns begin. The atmosphere of the universities is also not the same as during the elections in the past years, of course, we are waiting to see how the atmosphere will change after the start of advertising.

In the meantime, there is one fact, and that is the good work of the enemy and our bad work. That is, we did not act and explain very well to the people in advertising and showing the events and works that are done in the country, such as being on the world and scientific stage and the progress that has been made.

Unfortunately, the enemy started blackmailing us with a detailed plan and spent money to lead the minds of our youth to despair.

Undoubtedly, one of the most effective tools in the elections is the discussion of hope and despair and its positive and negative effects, which cannot be hidden. We have to accept that if we don’t tell and inform the people about the good things that have been done, others will slander them.

The events of last year caused something to happen to the country. A number of people were influenced and created spaces without considering the facts. Of course, the percentage was very low. The percentage of these people was small, but in the end, it disturbed the country’s focus for a few months and was able to inject despair and hopelessness into the society for a while. Now we have been responding to those issues for a year and full recovery has not been done.

* There is a free thinking course among students

rahnam: How do you evaluate Shahid Beheshti University and the atmosphere among its students in this election? To what extent are you prepared for election activities in the university environment?

Agha Miri: In the atmosphere of our university, student tribunes have started their work since last week and election debates have been formed among students. Also, Shahid Beheshti University is fully prepared to host candidates from any faction according to their legal request.

By attending the university, the representatives can discuss with the students and explain, inform and convince them about their plans for the future of the country. A few days ago, I attended one of the open forums of the university and closely witnessed the students’ election conversation. A student said: Why have such events happened in the country? Another student said: Maybe one of the main reasons was that you and I voted for people who were not correct. Another student said: Maybe it was because we didn’t vote. Another person said: I believe that the people who appear in the legislative scene of the country enter this scene with the people’s vote; So, if we choose not to vote, we have taken the right to choose from ourselves, and if we choose to vote without thinking and logic, we will see the result right now.

* The university can play a role in the elections as the wise forces of the country

rahnam: The conversations that you mentioned in the Open Forum of Beheshti University are definitely going on in a wider spectrum among the people of the society. Currently, some people are in favor of voting and some are against it. In your opinion, how effective can the contribution of our academic and elite community be in explaining this matter, and can it inject electoral enthusiasm into the heart of the society in this period of less than ten days?

Agha Miri: We cannot place the university as a criterion for society because generally people who are in university are between the ages of 18 and 28; It means exciting, questioning and demanding ages.

For this reason, this condition, along with youth, sometimes disturbs a person in making decisions. A young person may make an instant decision, but in the community scene, this decision is more balanced. However, the university can play a role in the elections as the wise forces of the country.

If the university can explain well, it can play a role of helping the society. For this reason, the university hall is the only place that, as a government center, is ready to receive all the words from any faction.

This presence of different tastes and factions in the university helps to encourage people to participate in the elections. In my opinion, the two platforms of university and media can change or explain the mentality of family members by sending students to their families. The media can also follow this path by proposing real, logical and scientific issues.

Shahid Beheshti University, Islamic Council of Iran, Elections in the Islamic Republic of Iran,

* Giving incorrect answers to people creates an angry mind in the heart of the society

rahnam: How effective do you consider the performance of the current parliament in the level of people’s participation in the upcoming elections?

Agha Miri: People see the summation of the three powers, that is, the performance of the judiciary, the parliament and the government is under the microscope of the people. But the people only elect the parliament, that’s why the parliament as a law-determining authority in the society has more influence on people’s demands.

If the parliament has performed its duties well, i.e. it has performed well in selecting ministers, it has no specific political category, and when we see the country under pressure and sanctions, a representative does not raise people’s expectations and does not make promises that are not implemented. ; And if the parliament approves a law but does not follow it, it can be said that people can hope for the parliament and its actions. It has been two years since the law prohibiting the entry of cars, where has it reached?

Currently, livelihood issues have been the most mentioned by the leadership to the officials in recent years. After that, the issue of housing and having a means of transportation for young people is one of the other current concerns of the society. Of course, all these things have been emphasized by Mr. Raisi and the current government has focused heavily on these issues.

Now, if these issues have not been addressed or resolved, people should be clearly explained and answered. Otherwise, it will create an angry mind in the heart of the society, and when you tell this angry mind to come to the polls, if it votes, it will vote with sadness or because of the system.

* I don’t see the current parliament as being very serious in terms of monitoring and following up on laws

Therefore, the parliament has a direct and 100% influence on the people’s decision for the future of the country. I see the previous parliament as being concerned and positive in terms of legislation, but I do not see it as very serious in terms of monitoring and following up on laws, and I criticize it in this regard. If you want to pass a law for the basic issues of people in society, you should bring it to the fore so that people can see its effects objectively. When the parliament does not follow up on it, the people will have a different view of the representatives of that parliament.

rahnam: Let’s distance ourselves from the election atmosphere. You have been at the helm of Shahid Beheshti University for about a year and a half. If you want to mention the difference between your tenure and the previous ones, what would you mention?

Agha Miri: There are some universities whose performance affects other universities, that is, if these universities move well, other universities will also try to move in the same direction, so your expectations from these universities should be several times higher than other universities.

When you evaluate Shahid Beheshti University, your expectations should be high compared to a normal university. One of our most important actions in this year and a half was our effort to manage the university in a targeted manner, that is, to know where we want to be in two years; For this reason, a 5-year plan and a 10-year plan for Shahid Beheshti University have been compiled and presented.

In these programs, special attention has been paid even to the details and how many steps we have to take or how much progress we have. Beheshti University has a comprehensive collection of various faculties of humanities, technical engineering, medicine, architecture and art, currently 20 active faculties and 3 faculties under construction, 10 research institutes and a number of research centers.

* Preparation of two 5-year and 10-year programs for Shahid Beheshti University

The position of our university in the field of humanities and in some fields is the rank of a country. Creating a transformation plan with six specific goals has been our biggest action in the last year and a half. We have not only seen the university as a scientific center, but in this program we have also seen it as an educational center. For this reason, our first discussion is the promotion of professional ethics, cultural growth and social capital.

Our second goal, which all universities in the world also have, is to expand educational authority at the national and international level. Third, we believe that we are leaders in specialized education, research and technology, and demand-oriented specialized services in some fields, such as those related to the water and electricity industry, architectural engineering, law, and psychology. Fourth, the expansion of scientific authority in sciences and technologies is the frontier of knowledge; That is, we believe that if we want basic science to grow in the country, it should be done by the country’s big universities. Fifth, in the organizational discussion, increasing the power of productivity and organizational intelligence, and sixth, the development of scientific and international cooperation and the promotion of the university’s global position.

In the transformation of the university, we have considered culture as a principle along with other issues, and we intend to train people in the university who will benefit the society, and we train our students with this goal.

Shahid Beheshti University, Islamic Council of Iran, Elections in the Islamic Republic of Iran,

* Shahid Beheshti University of the Deputy Ministry of Industry and Energy / 30% of theses will be problem-oriented

rahnam: One of the most important debates in recent years in the scientific aspect of universities and solving the country’s problems has been the issue-oriented issue of theses. Have you taken any action in this regard?

Agha Miri: In the research and technology sector, we are also looking to solve the problem. Indeed, the era of ordinary theses and theses just to get a degree has come to an end, and in the document of the university’s transformation, we set the goal of problem-oriented and demand-oriented issues, and as a university, we went after industry and society; In fact, this is considered a pre-emptive move towards the industry.

Now we signed a contract with the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Industry, and we are now known as the deputy university of the Ministry of Industry and Energy. Contrary to everyone’s imagination, our humanities department is working in the industry sector. All the vice-chancellors and departments of the university presented programs, one of which is the document for improving the educational level, improving the cultural and research level, and solving the country’s problems, which we are following seriously. For this purpose, by the end of the first year, 30% of our theses are supposed to provide solutions for important issues of the country. We have more than 15 to 35 1% and 2% scientists, and in fields such as law, architecture, sociology, and nuclear, we are among the top of the country, and this will definitely increase our responsibility.

Alhamdulillah, we started a problem-free year in other topics. In the discussion of dormitories, we are looking to build a single dormitory for 700 people and a married dormitory for 300 people, which will be opened next year.

The innovation tower of the university was also opened a month ago, where we intend to set up the largest quantum laboratory, and if the responsible bodies like the scientific vice-chancellor help in the budget discussion, which Fabe Al-Morad said, if not, we will implement this work from the place of production and sale of our property. did

We are considered the largest specialized training center because Shahid Abbaspur was the largest specialized training center and now it is in Shahid Beheshti University, and we are responsible for training most of the personnel of the Ministry of Energy.

Regarding housing for professors, we have taken a serious plan to prevent the migration of professors and provide them with welfare issues as much as possible. We also want to recruit young and committed faculty.
