We should not say with a socialist mindset that everyone should come and study in public schools!”
But what the defenders of private and non-government schools are well aware of, but prefer to hide, is that The main problem is not to oppose the activities of paid schools, the problem is that due to the activities of private and special government schools, normal public schools have been marginalized. And some experts believe that due to the conflict of interests in education and other levels of the country, i.e. the entry of officials and famous figures into the field of schooling, normal public schools are kept weak so that not only the rich but even the middle class families are forced to go to Go to paid schools!
This issue may become more tangible for the audience with this example, in some cases we see the demand for registration in public schools, but due to the lack of classes, education and training solves part of this need by increasing the density of classes, and the rest of the people have to go to non-government schools that have Acceptance capacity and class density are lower.
While some expected the situation of these schools to improve with the migration of children from wealthy families to the non-governmental sector and the reduction of the student population of normal public schools, the information published by the Ministry of Education shows that The state of public schools has not improved, but instead of increasing quality, the struggle of normal public schools is focused on maintaining survival!
In this report, we first went to non-government schools whose tuition in 1402 surprised some families and some parents stopped studying in these schools due to their inability to pay the exorbitant tuition fees.
According to education officials, 48 million tomans is the maximum approved tuition fee for non-government schools for the current school year, and up to 38% can be added to this tuition fee for extra-curricular activities, and therefore the tuition ceiling reaches 65 million tomans, but this is the case in some non-government schools. Tehran is not considered at all.
It is not possible to enter the school!
The strange thing is that some non-government schools have so many customers and fans that they don’t even allow them to enter the school premises and at the very beginning, they turn away their customers by saying that the capacity is full!
Our first destination is a high school in one of the northern areas of Tehran, whose building is similar to residential houses, but with a larger area and a not so big yard.
From tuition fees of 70 to 100 million tomans
This school charges 100 million tomans for the 12th grade and 70 million tomans for the 10th grade, and the school’s activities start from October, which starts in the summer, and the students of this school are several months ahead of their counterparts in regular public schools.
The principal of the school also talks about the advantages of the school such as extra programs and special classes for the twelfth graders to succeed in the final exams and entrance exams, and finally he names the names of the school students who were able to get good grades in this year’s entrance exams.
High school fees are not important for the families of this area!
He even believes that the school tuition rate is not high and says: In this area, the school fee is about 100 million tomans, because the financial situation of the families is good, the amount of tuition is not important for them!
Our second destination; It is a school that is active in the form of an educational complex and includes three primary, first and second secondary courses, a school in the vicinity of the park and with a very large space that at the very beginning of the entrance to the courtyard, the guard does not even allow to enter the school premises and talk with the officials. ! Finally, after insisting, they let me talk to the school’s registrar on the phone, and he repeated the fact that the capacity is full and said: You should have applied for registration since February 1401.
Finally, the school guard allows me to go to the accounting unit; while driving in the school yard to reach the financial unit; The size of the school yard, which is covered with green trees, attracts attention, and this beautiful area plays a large role as one of the influential factors in attracting students to this school.
When I get to the financial unit, the school’s approved tuition fee for the sixth grade of primary school is 55 million tomans, but this figure is the approved tuition fee and most of the non-government schools receive more than this amount from families under the pretext of extracurricular classes.
In addition to using teaching methods with the participation of students, this school organizes sports and art center, skill training, etc. for students.
When I talk to a number of parents whose children are in the primary school when they leave the school, the most important thing they emphasize is the comfort of their child at this school, and one mother openly says that the school treats their students “humanely”. he does! That is, the same challenge in the impossibility of making demands from normal public schools, which has caused the forced migration of some parents to non-government schools.
We do not announce the tuition fee
The third school is a primary school with a relatively small space, and at the very beginning, they are not allowed to enter the school, and the school guard does not allow to enter the campus, even insisting to see the school space, talk to the principal, and find out about the tuition fee is of no use, frankly. they say; The tuition fee is not announced.
For elementary school students, this school organizes skill training and job familiarization camps, and students can experience different jobs such as carpentry or bag sewing for a few hours by being in real work environments.
Education along with the game
The main difference between these schools and normal public schools is the game-based education and the creation of a happy atmosphere in the primary school and in the second secondary school, focusing more on students’ learning with the aim of preparing them to get high grades in the final exams and succeed in the entrance examination.
Educational injustice emerges
Another aspect of the differences between special and non-government schools and normal schools is in the atmosphere of schools and the amount of authority that is given to students, for example, in a situation where mobile phones are prohibited in public schools, and on the same subject, there are differences and sometimes conflicts in schools between executive agents and students. The approved tuition of this school for the primary period is set at 30 million tomans, but the tuition received from the public is 50 million tomans! The main focus of this school is on students’ moral and religious issues.
800 billion fine for some schools
