He continued: In general, according to the existing guidelines, if a patient dies less than 24 hours after entering the hospital, it is considered a suspicious death, which can have many reasons. These deaths require a forensic examination, and it is not possible to issue a patient’s death certificate without a forensic examination.

In response to the articles published about the strike of the medical staff of the hospital on the day of the accident, the vice-chancellor of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences said: The demands of the medical staff have always existed, but they have never led to a lack of service to patients because all doctors and nurses respect the rights of patients. They consider it as their moral duty.

He admitted: Nevertheless, expert investigations have been conducted in this regard with the presence of experts from the vice president of treatment, protection and the university president to evaluate the various aspects of the incident. These investigations will continue until the cause of death is definitively announced by the medical examiner, and if there is a culprit or culprits in this matter, legal action will be taken as soon as possible according to the regulations.
