Saudi Arabia became the host of Expo 2030 by avoiding Italy and Korea – rahnam

According to rahnam news agency, quoted by Euronews, Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, was chosen as the host of the World Expo 2030 on Tuesday.

The city beat Rome, Italy and the South Korean port city of Busan to host the event, which is expected to attract millions of visitors, after announcing its bid, which focuses on shaping a prosperous and sustainable future.

Members of the Paris-based Expo International Bureau chose Riyadh by a majority of 119 out of 165 votes during a closed-door meeting in the suburb of Issy-les-Moulineaux.

According to this report, Busan got 29 votes and Rome got 17 votes, and the result of this voting was welcomed with the encouragement of the Saudi delegation.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, Faisal bin Farhan, welcomed the vote’s outcome, calling it “a sign of the international community’s confidence” in what Saudi Arabia has to offer.

He said: We are committed to meet expectations and organize a wonderful exhibition.

Saudi plans for the expo include a large public transportation network and a modern, circular space with public parks, electronic gaming facilities, large performance stages and sports venues.

The project also includes plans to focus on “accelerating innovations” to conserve natural ecosystems.

Saudi Arabia hopes Expo 2030 will attract 40 million visitors to the country’s capital.

In this competition, each city stepped up its efforts, offering unique visions and ambitious promises to ensure the best possible delivery of this prestigious global event.

Saudi Arabia launched significant advertisements for the “Riyadh 2030” exhibition near the Eiffel Tower and throughout Paris. The country’s proposal was also officially supported by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Some human rights activists had also condemned Riyadh’s candidacy due to the actions of the Saudi government in the field of violating these rights.
