Stating that Iran ranks first in drug discovery in the world by far, he clarified: 92% of opium discoveries, 59% of morphine discoveries, and 29% of heroin discoveries in the world are discovered by Iran.
Momeni noted: A research and treatment center was opened in the region in Iran and the United Nations introduced this center to the whole world.
The Secretary General of the Anti-Narcotics Headquarters said: “Countering must be among Iran’s priorities, but due to its neighborhood with the country that has the largest production of drugs in the world, it is necessary to pay attention to prevention and empowerment among people who are at risk of harm.”
He stated: More than 54% of the families whose children are addicted have noticed their children’s addiction after 3 years! This statistic shows that we should do more in the field of prevention.
Momeni pointed out: More than 60% of people who became addicted either did not have the ability to say no to their peers or did not have enough information about the addictiveness of that drug.
