Iran’s food inflation has decreased this month compared to the previous month and significantly decreased compared to a year ago. In the 12 months ending August 2023, the inflation rate of food in Iran was announced at 38%, which has decreased to 37.4% in September.
Also, during the past year, the inflation rate of food in Iran has almost halved. In October 2022, equivalent to Mehr 1402, the food inflation rate in Iran had reached 71.4 percent. After removing the preferential currency of basic goods, the price of food in Iran increased significantly and the inflation rate of these items reached 80.3% at its peak, but since May 2023 (May this year), we have witnessed the downward trend of food inflation in Iran.

Among the countries of the world, Venezuela has a record of food inflation rate, the 12-month food inflation rate ending in September in this country reached 318%, which was more than any other country in the world.
Lebanon with 239% inflation and Argentina with 150% inflation have been ranked second and third respectively. The food inflation rate in Turkey is also estimated at 75.7%, and Turkey ranks fourth in the world with this inflation rate.
