According to the newspaper Blesk, tennis coach Marek Všetíček was found dead in his house in Prague. The 58-year-old coach, who managed Radek Štěpánek, Petra Kvitová or Karolína Plíšková, allegedly committed suicide.
The tennis world was shaken by tragic news on Thursday: renowned coach Marek Všetíček committed suicide in his home in Prague. He was 58 years old.
“We have been dealing with the case of the suicide of a man born in 1965 since Tuesday afternoon. The man was found in one of the houses in Prague 5,” police spokesman Jan Daněk told Blesk.
Všeticek was one of the most sought-after fitness trainers in tennis. In the 1990s, he worked with Petr Korda, whom he helped win the title at the Australian Open in 1998 and become world number one. He also helped Karl Nováček, Tomáš Berdych, Petra Kvitová and Karolína Plíšková with physics.
He probably had the greatest friendship with Radek Štěpánek, whom Všetíček led for 16 years and with whom he reached the top ten of the singles ranking.
