Real Madrid footballers will not defend their triumph in the Champions League. In the rematch of the semi-final, the “White Ballet” suffered a 0:4 debacle in Manchester against the favored City, and after the initial home draw 1:1, they said goodbye to the competition.
The English champion and leader of the Premier League entered the final already in the first half, when Bernardo Silva scored twice. Éder Militao scored an own goal in the 76th minute and substitute Julián Álvarez scored in the opening minute of regulation.
Manchester succeeded in revenge for last year’s semi-final, in which Real succeeded and subsequently dominated the entire competition. City will play in the Champions League final for the second time in their history and will be looking for their first ever triumph. Their opponent in the fight for the winning trophy will be Inter Milan on June 10 in Istanbul. Real will not add a record fifteenth overall championship in the prestigious competition.
