According to the new edition of the Center for World University Rankings, the American Harvard University is the best university in the world. In addition to it, MIT and Stanford University and two British institutions – the universities of Cambridge and Oxford – were also in the top five. Among the Czech universities, Charles University is the highest at 238th place, having fallen four places compared to last year.
The ranking is compiled by the Center for the Evaluation of World Universities, based in the United Arab Emirates, which evaluated over 20,000 higher education institutions this year. They then ranked 2,000 schools from 95 countries with the best scores. The criteria are the quality of education and research or the position of graduates on the labor market.
This year, 16 schools from the USA entered the top 20, the best European university is Cambridge in 4th place, and the best Asian university is the University of Tokyo in 13th place.
Among the top 1,000 Czech universities, Prague’s Charles University is ranked 238th, Brno’s Masaryk University is 560th, Olomouc’s Palacký University is 591st, and Prague’s Czech Technical University is 637th. There are seven other Czech universities in the second 1000 universities.
