“We seek, we attack, we destroy.” In addition to infantry and artillery, Ukrainian Bakhmut is also defended by a reconnaissance air unit. Russian forces in the besieged city, where fighting has been raging for several months, are being monitored by Ukrainians using drones. According to the soldiers, the Russians are running out of human supplies, even though they are sending as many people as they can to Bakhmut.

The Russians are not only running out of their own soldiers, Wagner’s group is also weakening numerically. “A month ago, the Wagnerites surrounded almost the entire Bakhmut, almost closed the entire Bakhmut line. Now they are only in a part of the city and they can’t even cover the surrounding area. They no longer have such strength,” describes Ukrainian soldier Taras to Radio Free Europe reporter Marijan Kushnir.
Ukrainian soldiers successfully repulse the Russian army. Drones help her in this. “They shoot constantly and work around the clock. If there is an opportunity to detect enemy positions, we fly, search, attack and destroy,” explains Ukrainian soldier Nazar.
Similar to Bachmut, Časiv Jar, which is only a few kilometers away, is also destroyed. In both cities, there is not a single undamaged building.
At the time of filming the report, i.e. on May 1 and 2, due to bad weather conditions, the fighting at Bachmut calmed down. The situation is now different, as Aktuálně.cz informs, among other things, in its ongoing online broadcast.
According to the statement of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on Friday, the units of the Ukrainian army have advanced two kilometers near Bakhmut. On the contrary, the Russian advance in the city and its surroundings was stopped.
