Marie Bouzková was eliminated at the tennis tournament in Madrid in the 3rd round and will not repeat last year’s eight-final participation. She lost to Jessica Pegula from the USA 4:6, 6:7.
The 24-year-old Bouzková played an even game with the world number three, but in the key moments, her opponent always succeeded in the end. In the opening set, the Czech player averted five set points from 3:5, but in the end Pegula won the set 6:4 after 70 minutes.
Also in the second act, Bouzková was able to delay the end when she averted two match points in the tenth game and forced a tie-break. In it, however, the American already converted the fourth match point and won it 7:2.
Barbora Krejčíková, the last Czech representative in singles, will play for a place in the round of 16 today. Her opponent will be the Chinese Wang Si-ju.
