US President Joe Biden has definitively confirmed that he will run for re-election in 2024. After weeks of speculation, he kicked off the campaign trail on Tuesday by releasing a three-minute clip in which he talks about the “extremism” of the Republican Party under former President Donald Trump and the need to stand up for democracy and basic freedoms.
“Every generation experiences a moment when they had to stand up for democracy. Stand up for their basic freedoms. I am convinced that this is ours,” said the 80-year-old Democratic Party politician.
