There are more services, thanks to which injured or sick animals receive faster help. New ambulances for pets with a central dispatch center will be added to the previously established horse rescue in South Moravia. The system, which is complemented by mobile applications, was presented by the operators at the AnimalTech fair and the National Livestock Exhibition in Brno.
Animal+ is an application with a number of functions and information for pet owners. It contains first aid instructions, contacts and displaying the current location according to GPS coordinates. In South Moravia, it will now be expanded in a test mode by a non-stop dispatch center, where breeders can consult the condition of their dog, cat and other pets.
“It will be attended by veterinary technicians or veterinarians. If the dispatcher indicates that the animal is in a life-threatening condition, one of our ambulances will come out and take the patient to the contracted workplace for further examination,” project manager Soňa Karaivanova told ČTK today. There are three catchment veterinary workplaces in South Moravia.
Currently, the service has three vehicles at its disposal, two of which are fully equipped with instruments. “There is an oxygen generator, an infusion pump, we are able to stabilize the patient already during the crossing,” said Zlata Hošková, one of the cooperating veterinarians. According to her, the animal ambulance works similarly to the human one – the possibilities in the field are limited, the main thing is to stabilize the patient and take him to a facility with full equipment.
Ambulances are passenger cars in station wagon configuration. They can transport even a large dog without any problems. However, a small donkey or a sheep could also fit inside in an emergency. Thanks to the cooperation with the integrated rescue system, the ambulance can theoretically go to a traffic accident in which a dog or cat passenger is injured.
“We have high-quality technical resources and a dense network of cooperating organizations. We are able to provide professional assistance to both pets and wild animals in nature,” said Karaivanova. In the future, it is planned to expand the service to other regions as well.
