The football players of Brno lost in the match of the 28th round of the Fortuna: League 1:3 in Liberec and are increasingly immersed in the fight for salvation, they are only one rung above the play-off – and that only thanks to a better score. On the other hand, České Budějovice helped themselves significantly, beating Jablonec 5:1.
In the second game under coach Martin Hašek, Zbrojovka did not follow up on the previous victory over Pardubice and dropped to 13th place with the same point gain as fourteenth Teplice, to whom the first playoff position belongs.
Due to Slovan’s formation, the team from Brno unusually started with three stoppers, and the opening did not suggest that they should play the worst first half since last August.
Right in the 3rd minute, Řezníček showed himself as the best scorer in the league, but he missed the goal and did not add the 20th goal in this season of the top competition.
After about 10 minutes, the home team started to threaten, especially from breaks. In the 11th minute, Tupta shot over in an open chance. The Slovakian offensive all-rounder did not succeed even a moment later, when after Frýdek’s tap-in from a free kick, he headed just over again.
In the 23rd minute, Slovan was already in the lead. Ghali’s cross was lifted by Tijani, goalkeeper Berkovec, under pressure from Tupta, only subtly boxed the ball away, and despite his subtle stature, the quick-witted Frýdek tapped an unconventional header into the net.
In six minutes, the home team increased the score. Olatunji got rid of Tijani after a quick break, passed to a loose Tupta in the box who stuck and headed towards the post.
In the 33rd minute, the North Bohemians were already leading 3:0. After a break from the right side, Fukala pushed Frýdek and he hit the top corner with a technical shot just behind the goal.
The 24-year-old midfielder scored twice in one league match for the first time in his career, so far he had only three goals in the top flight and only one this season.
The guests switched to a formation with four defenders, but they were still able to concede a fourth goal before the break. But Berkovec kicked Olatunji’s shot from the right side in the 42nd minute.
Liberec played the best first half in the league since February last year, when they won 4:1 over Pardubice and dominated the opening act 4:0.
Brno coach Hašek did not send the gunner Řezniček into the second half and replaced him twice. Soon after the change of sides, Liberec had several more clear chances. However, Olatunji first missed in front of the goal after Frýdek’s pass in the 49th minute, and was immediately caught by goalkeeper Berkovec. After Frýdek’s fall in the penalty area, the referee Petřík did not whistle for a penalty and Tupto failed to convert another big chance shortly after.
North Bohemia almost got a penalty for careless behavior in the end, but after an hour of play, Brno did not take advantage of a huge blunder in the home goal to score a goal. In the 65th minute, substitute Fousek only headed into the side net.
After the substitution, the guests combined better and in the end got an honorable goal after all. In the 89th minute, after a standard Zbrojovka situation, substitute Rondič headed the ball into his own net.
Zbrojovka coach Hašek’s 100th league match in the role of head coach and the duel with the club he played for in the past did not go well.
Dynamo’s dream match
České Budějovice won over Jablonec 5:1, Dynamo’s goals were scored by five different scorers. The South Bohemians won in the league after a series of three losses and moved to twelfth place. They lose three points to their opponent today, who closes the middle superstructure group in tenth place, two rounds before the end of the regular season. The North Bohemians did not win in the fourth round in a row.
Dynamo started their dream match quietly. The first goal was scored in the 18th minute, when Hora scored from a free kick along the wall. He made his mark for the second time in the league season.
The opening hit started the South Bohemian cannonade. Three minutes later, they added the home team’s second goal, a short corner was used by stopper Havel, who scored for the fourth time in the top flight.
Before the break, České Budějovice struck one more time, when in the set time Jablonec goalkeeper Hanuš beat Čmelík with an arc. The domestic midfielder is the team’s top scorer in the league season with five goals.
Severočech’s coach Horejš, who coached České Budějovice for years and played for them for many seasons in the past, tried to turn the tide at halftime by substituting two players. But South Bohemia did not throw away the maneuver of their former coach, who led them last season. Eighteen-year-old defender Čoudek scored his first goal in the top competition in the 53rd minute after Čmelík’s cross.
A glimmer of hope came to Jablonec in the 59th minute, in which Souček, another shooting league debutant, reduced the score to 1:4. But it did not reduce Dynamo’s pressure in any way. Moments later, after a mistake by the Jablonec defense, Čmelík had a great opportunity. After the subsequent corner, Hanuš made an excellent save after the header of the České Budějovice captain Králik.
However, Dynamo did not have to regret the missed chances. In the 70th minute, Nigerian striker Adediran added the home team’s fifth goal and his second strike in the Czech league after escaping. Jablonec lost 1:5 against Slavia in January.
The South Bohemians won by four goals for the third time in the history of the independent league, the last time they did it was in April 1996 at Uherské Hradiště. At the same time, they equaled their scoring maximum in one game. They scored five goals in a match for the third time in the history of the top league and for the first time since September 1999, when they scored their highest victory in a separate league 5-0 against Příbram.
