A number of these premieres were due to mergers, collaborations and exaggerated expectations of synergistic effects. Sometimes it was a bad market estimate, sometimes it was bad timing. At the turn of the century, when globalization greatly tightened the conditions for survival, exaggerated ambitions to come up with a completely new car format appeared more often.
The result was always millions in losses. The following overview is not exhaustive. However, it may explain why some models disappeared from the roads so quickly.
