The footage, which made it to the world media, was published on Twitter by the Special Kherson Cat account, which regularly publishes news from the Ukrainian front. The nearly half-minute clip, which has already been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people, shows a Russian combat vehicle on fire in the middle of a bombed-out field in an unspecified location in Ukraine.
After a few seconds, the camera pans to the bottom of the vehicle, revealing Russian soldiers lying underneath. They don’t look like they’re going to run away, and the high flames whipping up near them don’t make them too nervous. The video also shows how they left their weapons to catch fire in the vehicle. “This is how the Russians are talking under a burning infantry fighting vehicle,” said the account in question.
The actions of the Russian soldiers were ridiculed by most users in the comments. “On the one hand, at least they’re not cold under it,” joked one of the commenters. “I’m trying to understand. How do the soldiers feel about being on the front line when they feel it’s safer to hide under a burning vehicle that could explode at any moment,” another user added. Others pointed out that this was not such a foolish idea, as the risk of death could be even greater on an open battlefield.
The Russians are now attacking at the cost of heavy losses on five sections of the front, the Ukrainian General Staff said in an overview of the situation on the battlefield on Thursday morning. Russian troops continue to shell the cities of Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdijivka, Marjinka and Shakhtarsk in the Donbas in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces repelled 55 attacks on Wednesday. According to the Ukrainian staff, the most difficult battles are fought for Bakhmut and Marjinka.
