Thanks to two goals from Ollie Watkins, the Aston Villa players beat the third Newcastle United 3-0 in the English league and continue to attack for participation in the European Cup. The team from Birmingham is in sixth place after seven wins from the last eight league games, three points behind fifth-placed Tottenham, who lost 2-3 to Bournemouth.
Another London team also lost, Brighton turned the match against Chelsea and won 2:1. Eberechi Eze set up a two-goal win for Crystal Palace over last-place Southampton. After six years, Diego Costa made his mark in the English league, his Wolverhampton defeated Brentford 2:0.
Spanish coach Emery’s men opened the scoring after ten minutes thanks to Ramsey, who passed Watkins. The in-form striker added two goals to the assist. First, in the 64th minute, he scored after a separate escape, and in the end, he closed the score after a beautiful combination.
Watkins has already scored 14 goals this season, equaling his previous record in England’s top flight, and is in fifth place in the goalscoring table. Aston Villa are three points behind fifth-placed Tottenham in the incomplete table, while Newcastle could lose third place if Manchester United take on Nottingham on Sunday by a point.
Chelsea won for the first time after four games without a goal, Gallagher put them in the lead in the opening quarter of an hour after an individual breakthrough by Mudryk. But the rest of the match belonged to the guests, Brighton footballers scored 24 shots in the match, two of which ended up in the net.
In the 42nd minute, substitute Welbeck equalized with his head after three minutes on the field, and in the second act, 19-year-old Paraguayan Enciso gave the “Racks” a win with a beautiful long-range shot.
Tottenham failed to salvage points with Bournemouth. The London team took the lead after Son Hung-min’s goal, but the visitors turned the game around with goals at the end of the first and at the beginning of the second half. Although Tottenham got back into the game with a goal by Danjuma in the 88th minute, after a great combination in the fifth minute of regulation, Ouattara gave the visitors a win.
