Tennis player Linda Fruhvirtová lost at the tournament in Charleston to the native Caroline Dolehide 2:6, 7:5, 3:6 and, just like last year’s debut on the green clay, she was eliminated in the second round. The 17-year-old Czech hope, who is ranked 60th in the WTA rankings, lost to the 172nd player in the world, seven years older, after two and a half hours of fighting.
Today in South Carolina, Fruhvirtová was unable to follow up her victory over seeded Swiss Jil Teichmann from the first round. Against Dolehide, she struggled on serve from the start, collecting eleven double faults and serving eight times during the match.
In the second set, it seemed that she was able to make a comeback when she was already leading 5:1, but in the end she managed to equalize the duel after more than an hour, 7:5. In the third set, on the other hand, she soon lost serve twice, took a 1:5 deficit, and in the end only corrected the score of the first mutual duel.
