Next week, the best Czech MMA fighter Lucie Pudilová will make her ninth career appearance in the elite world organization UFC.
She will face Panama’s Joselyne Edwards in Kansas City and will look to build on her win over China’s Wu Ya-nan last year.
“I’m already looking forward to the match. I’ve been trying to improve my Brazilian jiu-jitsu all the time. I think I have good takedowns. I’ve also improved my Thai boxing, because my opponent has very good kicks. I’ve been training to be able to defend and take over,” she said Pudilová of the website kaocko.cz before her flight to Ireland on Monday for the final part of the preparation.
The 28-year-old fighter trains there under the guidance of John Kavanagh, with whom the star Conor McGregor also works.
Pudilová will fly to the USA on Saturday, the fight with Edwards will take place on Saturday, April 15 at the UFC on ESPN 44 event.
“I’m calm that I’m not really calm about it. I had some personal problems, but I’ve already gotten over it, so I’m just concentrating on the match,” said Pudilová.
“We’ll see what the opponent can endure, but I don’t expect her to be more stinging than me. We’ll see what she’s willing to endure with me,” she added.
In the Czech Republic, she trained at the Lanna gym, where she trained with men. “We have a great team here, the boys are not unstable, that’s good. Sometimes they save me, which is clear, they are boys and they are stronger, but they can really torment me. They can also load me,” the fighter admitted.
But he doesn’t complain about “rough treatment”. “I’m glad for that. I already have my level, so it’s easy for me. It’s not that they have to, but they want to help me improve,” she declared.
Pudilová fought in the UFC from 2017 to 2020, winning two of her seven bouts. But after the defeat with the American Justine Kishova, she left the organization and moved to the Octagon.
After six duels, of which she won five, she signed a contract with the UFC again and defeated Wu Ya-nan before the limit in the renewed premiere last August.
